UC Business Professor Increases Diversity in Study-Abroad Programs

Ana Sierra Leonard, director of the Lindner College of Business International Programs and associate professor-educator of management, is featured in KPMG (Klynveld, Peat, Marwick, Goerdeler: accounting firm founders and chairman) Foundation’s 2011 annual report.
The foundation, a private non-operating establishment created in 1968 to support higher business education, outlines four pillars of its corporate responsibility values: sustainability of environment, integrity, diversity and inclusion and citizenship.
Under the diversity and inclusion section, Leonard is featured as part of the foundation’s “The PhD Project AHEAD (Achieving Higher Education Administration Diversity),” a program aimed at increasing diversity and offering support to minority business school professors who aspire to advance to leadership roles.
Leonard is highlighted for having “tripled the number of minority students taking part in overseas study programs.”
The foundation funded a conference in which she attended in 1995, as part of the PhD Project, offering her inspiration to become a doctoral student.
Overall, the KPMG Foundation invested $7.4 million in academic business programs, endowments and scholarships throughout the country.
